CONTAMINATION
OF THE WORD OF GOD
THE BIBLE
The Bible has been the central
and final authority in the church for two thousand years. It was considered the source of faith and
practice, equaled by no other source. Although the world has argued for
centuries concerning the origin of the Bible, the church has accepted it as is
with full authority.
The Bible has been available in
many translations over the years. The
Vulgate, the Latin Bible, was for years the only version available, and then in
limited availability. Then
came along the King James Version of 1611, also known as the Authorized
Version. It was the only accepted version until the turn of the 20th
century. It wasn’t until the last few
decades that one was not looked upon with suspicion if they came to church with
any other version. And, still some
churches today are still King James Version only churches.
Although this is not a study on
Bible translations, let it be said, that as the church becomes more apostate,
more ‘worldly’, it will rebuff any doctrines that go against its worldly
character, even to the extent of changing the Bible’s content. What are some of
the ‘contaminations’ happening today with the new Bible translations?
Declaring the Bible as ‘living’. By that, they don’t mean the
‘Living Translation’ that has been popular.
By ‘living’ they mean its meaning changes with the culture. What it meant a hundred years ago does not
apply today. For
example, the subject of women pastors.
The Bible absolutely forbids this. However, those in the ‘living’
persuasion will tell you things culturally have changed, so one must interpret
the Bible in modern contexts. What it
said in Paul’s day does not apply today.
This view is popular
particularly in the what is referred to as the
‘orthodox’ denominations, i.e. Lutherans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians,
Methodists.
Gender neutral Bibles. Because it is politically incorrect to refer to a person on a
gender bases, i.e. postman, congressman, craftsman, it has naturally carried
over to the Bible. Now, translations are
coming out that are gender neutral. The
editors have removed such phrases as ‘Son of God’, references to God as He,
Him, His, and so forth.
Those who do such things will
one day face an eternal judgment. The Lord is VERY serious about changing His
Word.
“For
I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If
anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written
in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy
city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
(Revelation 22:18-19)
Jesus is the Son of God. In the Bible, God is always referred to in
the masculine gender, i.e. Father, Him, His, He. Jesus is always referred to in the masculine
gender … Son, Him, His, He.
Removing what is considered offensive terms. Sin,
judgment, condemnation, homosexual, Jesus, hell, and others. Because these subjects are not addressed from
the pulpit in the modern apostate church, such references are being either
omitted or completely overlooked in modern translations.
A disregard for the Bible’s
teaching on authority in the Church. Because the women’s equality issues have infiltrated
every area of our culture, the church has not escaped. Without going into the subject of women in
leadership, suffice it to say that the Bible makes it very clear that women are
not to be in any position in the church that places her over the authority of
the men. Women holding the pastoral
position in the church does just that and is not only violating this
imperative, but is in willful disobedience to the Lord, which the Word of God
says is sin. Women are permitted to teach other women and children. Not men.
Within a short period of time,
it will be difficult to find a Bible that has not been altered. Because the youth coming up are not being
taught the truth, they will not recognize a counterfeit when they see one. There are already counterfeits that have been
around for many years, i.e. the Mormon’s Boot of Mormon, the Jehovah’s
Witnesses’ The New World Translation, and the Muslim’s Koran. They will soon be joined by many others. Some
of the changes are so subtle, that it’s difficult for one who is not astute in
the Bible to detect.
* ‘Word of God’
refers to the Bible only, in all instances in this work. No other source is
assumed in that phrase. The Bible is God’s
inerrant, infallible, and complete and sole Word to mankind. No other work on
earth appends too or replaces the Bible.
** All Bible references are from the New King James Version
(NKJV) unless otherwise noted.
